Here at Cinemastance we never cover television. There are a couple of reasons for that.
1- The site is called Cinemastance. That is supposed to convey that we are focusing on thoughts and opinions in regards to movies. I hope that is what it conveys. I just got one of those big boxes of Vista Print Business Cards and that’s a commitment. I will use about 12 of them in the upcoming year but there is an awesome price break at 10,000 cards.
2- My television viewing has degraded into mostly cooking competition shows. I watch a lot of Food Network and Gordon Ramsey. This is mindless stuff that washes over me. I retain none of it. Who won “Hell’s Kitchen” Season 2? I don’t know but I’m sure that most of the scallops they prepared were RAW!!!

I am not proud of my DVR’s contents, to say the least but I do manage to get a couple of legit shows down each week. “American Horror Story” and “The Walking Dead” are consumed with a zeal that comes close to an addict getting his or her fix. I also usually get through at least 24 episodes of “Big Bang Theory” each week as syndication has allowed the show a near constant feed.

Since “The Office” has now jumped the shark 3 separate times, my new favorite “Inexplicably Talking to the Camera” show is “Modern Family”. (Yes, I love me some “Parks and Rec” but “Family” has more heart). The exploits of the Pritchett/Dunphy brood consistently produce huge laughs thanks to a wonderful cast that seem like an extension of my own family. While Season 2 was able to end almost each episode with a touching moment that left a lump in the throat, this third season was not able to match those emotions. But the comedy was still strong and Phil Dumphy (Ty Burrell) is easily one of the best characters on television.

“Modern Family” is not just an entertaining show but an important one. With such a diverse palette of characters, the show takes the torch from “Will and Grace” and runs off full speed. Here we have a gay couple raising an adopted daughter next to a young, attractive trophy wife and her much older husband. The “normal Nuclear” family is Phil and Claire with there nice suburban house and three lovely children. Funny thing is, they are probably the craziest of the bunch. This is truly a perfect portrait of the new “Modern Family”.
