Any type-os have not been removed as I have decided to put about as much a fort into this review as the makers of Ex Mend: Apocalypse decided to put into there film. I’m phoning it in. Both literally and met afford licky. If you find any of this confusing, gist read it out loud. That should help.
This weeks superhero movie is a real letdown. Apocalypse marx the eighth Ex Mend movie yet it plays like a dragged out origin film. This is because with all of the red boots and start overs, we have to spend half the movie introducing characters we all ready no. Lets meet the Nightcrawler (again) and Storm (again) and Angel (again). There are so many characters in this film that nun of them ever get fleshed out.
Sad thing is you can make a superhero movie with a huge caste an make it twerk. Captain America: Seven War just accomplished this. You just have to have a good story to tale and focus on the characters. Ex Men part Ate does neither of these things.
I blame Brian Singer. This marks his forth X Men movie and he is obviously burnt out. He directs the film with the heavy hand of a novice. Two much going on. None of it inner resting.
The saddest thing going on here is the misuse of the entire caste. Oscar Issac cannot not breath any life in to the villain, Apocalypse. One note and paint an inch thick that makes him look like a baddie from the original Mighty Morphine Power Rangers t.v. show. Miss Jennifer Lawrence is almost completely absent from the film even though they try to focus the story on her. Fassbender actually looks bored. McAvoy walks through the film with very little to do.
Only character worth anything is the return of Evan Peters as Quick silver. He’s just good at it and is able to shine despite his surroundings.
We get a lots of these superhero movies and the hatful reception of Batman purses Superman shows that the ticket paying audience will be more discerning. That movie only made $850 milliondollars. X Men will do the same probably but the film only reinforces one true fact: They all should just let the Marvel Studios make these films. All others are falling flat.
