\nDid you know that Johnny Depp produced \u201cHugo\u201d? It\u2019s true. At least he is listed as one of the producers on Martin Scorsese\u2019s wonderful new film and I betcha didn\u2019t know it.\u00a0 Sometimes if you sift through the credits of a movie you will find little bizarre nuggets of head-scratching trivia. I used to use this sort of asinine knowledge to get \u201clucky\u201d at bars. Here\u2019s a great pick up line, \u201cDid you know Leonard Nimoy directed \u201c3 Men and a Baby?\u201d Works every time.<\/p>\n

Now granted, in Hollywood, credits are handed out like kids at a candy store (or is it \u201ccandy at a kids store\u201d? That doesn\u2019t make much sense either.) and can mean very little. I doubt that Mr. Depp attended casting sessions and sat in on production design meetings but it still a fun factoid.<\/p>\n

Brad Pitt<\/strong> has producer credits on Scorsese\u2019s \u201cThe Departed<\/strong>,\u201d \u201cKick-Ass<\/strong>,\u201d and \u201cRunning with Scissors<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Demi Moore<\/strong> produced all 3 Austin Powers<\/strong> movies.<\/p>\n

Tom Hanks<\/strong> produced the huge indie hit, \u201cMy Big Fat Greek Wedding,\u201d<\/strong> the animated kid\u2019s flick \u201cThe Ant Bully<\/strong>\u201d, and was executive producer on the Steve Carell flop \u201cEvan Almighty<\/strong>\u201d. \u201cAlmighty<\/strong>\u201d also has the distinction of being the most expensive comedy of all time with a reported budget of $175 million dollars!! Considering the film delivers about 14 chuckles and 3 guffaws, that\u2019s $10.29 million dollars a laugh. Now that is money spent. Not well spent, just spent.

\nJack Nicholson<\/strong> not only produced but also co-wrote a movie called \u201cHead<\/strong>\u201d in 1968 that featured the pop group The Monkees<\/strong>!!\u00a0 He also wrote the script for the psychedelic exploitation film called \u201cThe Trip<\/strong>\u201d which was directed by Roger Corman.<\/p>\n

Thomas Lennon<\/strong> and Robert Ben Garant, <\/strong>both from Comedy Central\u2019s \u201cReno 911,<\/strong>\u201d and MTV\u2019s \u201890s sketch comedy show \u201cThe State<\/strong>\u201d have written many surprising scripts including \u201cThe Pacifier<\/strong>\u201d with Vin Diesel, \u201cHerbie Fully Loaded<\/strong>,\u201d and \u201cNight at the Museum<\/strong>\u201d along with the sequel.

\nAlexander Payne<\/strong>, known as the indie auteur behind \u201cSideways<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cThe Descendents<\/strong>\u201d isn\u2019t always involved in highbrow entertainment. Mr. Payne has co-writing credits on both \u201cJurassic Park III<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cI Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry\u201d. <\/strong><\/p>\n

SNL <\/strong>stars Kristen Wiig<\/strong> and Fred Armisen<\/strong> both lend their voices to the Cartoon Network \u201cThe Looney Tunes Show<\/strong>\u201d. Armisen spits the andeles and arribas as Speedy Gonzalez while Wiig is Bugs batty love interest, Lola Bunny.<\/p>\n

Michael Douglas<\/strong> produced \u201cOne Flew Over the Cuckoo\u2019s Nest<\/strong>,\u201d John Carpenter\u2019s \u201cStarman,\u201d<\/strong> \u201cFlatliners<\/strong>,\u201d and the bizarre Actioner \u201cFace\/Off<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m pretty sure there was a puppeteer in those pants.<\/p>\n
