A car veering down the\ntrack at top speed? Then you might enjoy <em>Ford v Ferrari<\/em>, a biopic\ndetailing a rivalry between the two auto manufacturers. This tale specifically\nfollows what happened as two men were assigned to design and build the fastest\ncar in the world, and the various personal and professional difficulties and\nobstacles they experienced while making the dream a reality. It may not be the\nbest film of the year, but all parties involved are devoted to telling the tale\nwith as much authenticity as possible, making it an intriguing and interesting\nbiopic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cinemastance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ford-v-ferrari-leads-car-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19485\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the mid-60s, US auto company Ford had been consistently\nbested by rivals Ferrari on the track and became desperate to defeat them at\nany cost, not only for pride but also to promote their company and sell cars to\nthe public. After an attempt to buy out Ferrari and its racing team leads to\neven more conflict, the company heads hire manufacturer Carroll Shelby (Matt\nDamon) to take over the project. He has his own bone to pick with his\ncompetitor after being turned down for a position by them earlier in his life.\nShelby enlists the help of Ken Miles (Christian Bale), a talented but\ntemperamental driver with plenty of ideas of his own on what features the\nultimate car should have. By 1966, they realize that they will have to beat the\nFerrari team during competitions at Daytona, Sebring and most importantly, Le\nMans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a story perspective, there\u2019s nothing here that viewers\nwon\u2019t have seen a hundred times before. This is a story about independent\nspirits striving to break new ground and willing to do whatever it takes to\ncomplete the task at hand. Their techniques are extreme and it gets them into\nnumerous scuffles with Ford executive Leo Beebe (Josh Lucas). Ken Miles\u2019\nunwillingness to compromise also leading to some family concern from his wife\nMollie (Catriona Balfe) and son (Noah Jupe). Alas, Shelby\u2019s personal life isn\u2019t\ndelved into quite as deeply (the man was married seven times but his numerous\nrelationships aren\u2019t given the same kind of onscreen attention as his work).\nEssentially, these are two men with specific goals who do what they are asked,\nbut do it in their own eccentric and individualistic manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cinemastance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ford-v-ferrari-bale-family-1024x476.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19486\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though there are no surprises and the film\u2019s attention\nto historical detail leads to a somewhat long and shaggy running time, the\nperformers are fun to watch. Whether they\u2019re fighting with their business-minded\nFord executives or each other, the men trade plenty of funny insults along the\nway. And it\u2019s interesting to see just how much conflict there was between the\nfigures and their bosses, who soon turn on Miles and add plenty of obstacles\nfor the protagonists to overcome in addition to taking down Ferrari. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the biggest plus this film has going for it are the\nracing sequences. The recreations of several 1966 events, including the 24-hour\nLe Mans race, feature some remarkable stunt driving and are expertly shot and\nedited. Viewers get a real sense of the speed and the danger involved when\nthese vehicles are hurtling down the track and narrowly avoiding crashing into\neach other. On a technical level, when the cars are being pushed by the drivers\nto their boundaries, the movie really jolts to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cinemastance.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/ford-v-ferrari-leads-close-up-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19487\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Again, there isn\u2019t a lot about <em>Ford v Ferrari<\/em> that\nfans and even newbies won\u2019t see well ahead on the road, and it is a long\njourney. Still, the thrilling driving footage and performances manage to keep\none engaged in the proceedings, making the film an interesting and enjoyable\nbiopic. Those with an interest in the subject matter will likely enjoy taking\nthis flick out for a spin around the track.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like the sound of a roaring engine?
