Welcome to another look at some of the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray\nand DVD highlights coming out this week. It\u2019s a jam-packed edition delivering\nmajor Hollywood efforts as well as notable independent and international\nfeatures. So, if you can\u2019t make it out to the movies this week, be sure to give\none of these titles a try!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIG NEW RELEASES!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

BURN ALL MY LETTERS \u2013 Karin Stolpe was a Swedish translator\nand daughter of a Nobel Prize winner. This biopic is set in the 1930s and tells\nher life story. After studying abroad, she ended up returning home and marrying\na celebrity, before beginning an affair with a writer and critic who was in her\nsocial circle. Naturally, the scandal that followed created great conflict in\nher personal life. This biopic from Sweden took some time to find a North\nAmerican distributor, but it is now debuting as a DVD-only release. The picture\nhasn\u2019t been seen by many in this country, yet it did win accolades in Sweden,\nincluding several nominations for their equivalent of the Academy Awards. So,\nthose with an interest in Swedish history will likely be interested in this picture.\nIt stars Asta Kamma August, Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd, Gustav Lindh and Sverrir Gudnason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

CUTTER\u2019S CLUB \u2013 This ultra-low budget chiller from\nwriter\/producer\/director Charles Band (Parasite, Trancers, Dollman vs.\nDemonic Toys, The Gingerdead Man<\/em>, and the Evil Bong<\/em> films) follows\ntwo medical students. One possesses natural skills in surgery and wants to\ndevelop new, experimental grafting techniques. She and her boyfriend find their\nway into a secret society of surgery-obsessed fanatics and soon get in\nover-their-heads helping create a two-headed monster. This picture debuted\nearlier in the year online and is now arriving on disc. The big story regarding\nthe film is that it was shot roughly 20 years ago and left unfinished. The\nnegative was lost, but it was recently discovered. Band filmed a few additional\nscenes and completed the picture. There have only been a few reviews posted.\nThe consensus is that the film is flawed, but contains an interesting concept,\nwith an impressive performance from one of its cast members. It features Tony\nTodd, Melissa Searing and Davee Youngblood.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS \u2013 The latest Marvel\nsuperhero story introduces a few familiar characters who haven\u2019t appeared in\nthe franchise yet. This tale is set in a parallel universe from the other\nMarvel features and involves four heroic astronauts\/scientists with incredible\npowers gained during a dangerous mission into space. When a strange being\ncalled Silver Surfer appears and informs Earth that a powerful cosmic being\nnamed Galactus will be devouring it imminently, the team must stop the planet\nfrom being destroyed. Critics gave this effort higher marks than recent Marvel\ntitles. A small number found that while it was impeccably produced, the story\nwas still overly familiar and didn\u2019t stray far enough from the Marvel formula.\nBut all others thought the cast were charming and the impressive visuals and\nentertaining story would entertain and keep the attention of any viewer. This\ntitle can be purchased as a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo, a 4K Ultra HD and\nBlu-ray Steelbook, a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Amazon exclusive Steelbook, a\nWalmart exclusive Blu-ray, and a regular Blu-ray. The cast includes Pedro\nPascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner, Natasha\nLyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, Sarah Niles and Ralph Ineson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

LIGHT OF THE WORLD \u2013 Faith-based movie enthusiasts can check\nout this animated family feature that tells the story of Jesus that is told\nfrom the point-of-view of the Apostle John. When the boy\u2019s father falls into\ndebt, the youngster searches for a way to help. The protagonist meets the\ndivine figure and decides to follow his teachings. He witnesses the deity\u2019s\nbeginnings, right through his crucifixion and resurrection. Most members of the\npress recommended the movie. A few voices stated that the picture was\nwell-intentioned, but very blunt and obvious in its attempts to convert young\nviewers into followers. Still, most felt that the animation was stylish and\nslick, and thought that telling the story through the eyes of a child added a\nunique element to the storytelling. The voice cast includes Ian Hanlin,\nBenjamin Jacobson and Michael Benyaer.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE \u2013 THE FINAL RECKONING \u2013 The most recent\nsequel in this long-running franchise serves as a finale to the storyline that\nhas been running through the last few features. With a form of Artificial\nIntelligence known as the Entity on the brink of causing the end of the world,\nrogue IMF agent Ethan Hunt pulls his crew together one last time to try and\nlocate a module that will shut down the program. Of course, others want the\ncomponent so that they can take control of the Entity, leading to an epic\nshowdown between all parties. Notices were generally upbeat for this effort.\nAbout one-fifth of reviewers commented that this chapter felt bloated and the\ntone was overly serious, diminishing their enjoyment. Still, the majority\ncalled the picture a fitting close, noting that once again it was full of\nincredible stunts and action scenes, while also delivering a worthy farewell to\nsome of its characters. The movie is available in a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray\ncombo pack and a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Steelbook. Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell,\nVing Rhames, Simon Pegg, Esai Morales, Pom Klemnentieff, Henry Czerny, Holt\nMcCallany, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman and Angela Bassett headline the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

OSIRIS \u2013 A group of Special Forces commandos are sent out on\na secret mission. But when they arrive, the group are abducted by aliens and\nbeamed aboard a spaceship. The skilled fighters awaken, regroup, and realize\nthat they must fight off their inhuman captors and figure out how to get\nthemselves back to Earth. Reaction towards this independent\nscience-fiction\/action\/horror movie was split right down the middle. Half\ncalled the movie an amalgamation of tropes from better pictures like Predator<\/em>\nand Alien<\/em>, featuring endless gun battles delivered in a routine and\nunmemorable manner. The same number believed that this was a capably made and\nfast-paced effort that delivered the B-movie goods and would entertain action\nfans. This title is arriving exclusively as a standalone DVD. It stars Max\nMartini, Linda Hamilton, Brianna Hildebrand, Lamonica Garrett and Michael Irby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

SCARED SHITLESS \u2013 A plumber frustrated over his adult son\u2019s\ngermophobic tendencies insists that the two work a night shift together to help\novercome his fears. When they see something out-of-the-ordinary at an apartment\ncomplex, they investigate and discover a genetically engineered, blood-thirsty\nmonster living in the pipes. It goes on the rampage and as residents begin to\ndisappear, the son must overcome his fears to survive the night. This\nindependent horror\/comedy from Canada played at various genre film festivals\nover the past year and is now arriving on disc. The press thought that horror\nfans should give it a look. One reviewer didn\u2019t find the toilet monster idea\nfunny and described the movie as abhorrent. Everyone else complimented the work\nof the cast, calling the picture a well-paced and quirky blast that was far\nmore amusing than anticipated. The cast includes Steven Ogg, Daniel Doheny,\nChelsea Clark, Marcia Bennett, Mark McKinney and Julian Richings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

SCARYGIRL \u2013 This independent animated fantasy is a\nco-production between Australia and the US.  A young girl who feels like\nan outcast because of her physical attributes sees her beautiful hometown\nsuddenly come under threat from a powerful leader. When her dad is kidnapped\nand taken to the villain\u2019s \u201cCity of Light,\u201d the protagonist has to find a way\nto locate the sinister ruler and rescue her guardian. So far, the movie has\nonly been seen by a handful of critics and response was divided. Half commented\nthat the animation was strong, but the story was lacking and that the feature\nhad difficulty maintaining a consistent tone. The same number called the movie\nmarvelous to look at and noted that the narrative dealt with interesting and\ncomplex themes that would ignite conversation among family members. For now,\nthis is a DVD-only release. The voice cast includes Craig Behenna, Matt\nEveritt, Nathan Jurevicius, Sam Neill and Tim Minchin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

SHE RIDES SHOTGUN \u2013 A young girl is unexpectedly reunited\nwith her father, who has just been released from prison. He tells her that she\nmust leave immediately with him. It soon becomes clear he is a fugitive being\nhunted by a violent criminal gang, who also have the police under their\ncommand. The girl also learns that her mother and stepfather have been killed,\nand that her dad is the main suspect. The father trains the girl to protect\nherself as the pursuit continues. Word was positive for this independent\nthriller. A few called the picture predictable and had issues with watching the\nyoung lead character endure so much trauma. However, everyone else was\nimpressed by the writing and performers, stating that the movie managed to\njuggle a poignant father-daughter relationship against a disturbing backdrop.\nFor the time being, this title is being resealed only on DVD. It features Taron\nEgerton, Ana Sophia Heger, Rob Yang, John Carroll Lynch and Odessa Z\u2019zion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

SKETCH \u2013 This tale involves an overwhelmed, widowed father.\nHis daughter is drawing violent art that is raising eyebrows at school. And his\nson, who is more sociable than his sibling, acts normally but may also be\nhiding his grief. While the dad tries to clean and sell the family home, the\nfrustrated young girl discovers that the creatures from her sketchbook have\nsuddenly disappeared off the pages. Soon, the family and town come under attack\nby oversized and colorful, but threatening creatures. This independent film was\nacquired for release by Angel Films, but apparently the movie is not a\nfaith-based picture. Write-ups were very positive. A few voices didn\u2019t think\nthat the film measured up to its wonderful concept while also believing it was\ntoo intense for kids. All others stated that this was a fantastic little film\nwith unique and incredible monsters that capably dealt with themes of grief and\nloss in a compassionate and creative way. Tony Hale, D\u2019Arcy Carden, Bianca\nBelle, Kew Lawrence and Kalon Cox headline the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

WEAPONS \u2013 This horror hit begins with a truly terrifying\nscenario. A class full of children run out of their houses in the middle of the\nnight at the exact same time and disappear without a trace. Frustrated parents\ntry to determine what happened to the children, accusing and harassing the\nhomeroom schoolteacher. The film cuts between the instructor, parents and\npolice as they attempt to solve the mystery. When the answer arrives, it isn\u2019t\nwhat anyone anticipates. Write-ups were excellent for this feature. A small\ncontingent commented that the story changed its focus too often and felt that\nthe last act wasn\u2019t as frightening or moving as hoped for. Everyone else called\nthe film an impressively performed and gripping chiller with memorable moments,\nalso suggesting it effectively critiqued modern suburban life. This feature can\nbe purchased on 4K Ultra HD only, or as a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Steelbook, as\nwell as a standalone Blu-ray. Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich,\nBenedict Wong, Jason Turner and Amy Madigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BLASTS FROM THE PAST!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for something older, you have plenty of options as well. Radiance Films is delivering Daiei Gothic: Japanese Ghost Stories Volume 2<\/em> on Blu-ray, containing the movies Demon of Mount Oe<\/em> (1960), The Haunted Castle<\/em> (1969) and Ghost of Kasane Swamp<\/em> (1970). These are three Daiei genre films based on folk tales that involve spirits seeking vengeance. Each film has been given a 4K restoration for this release. They arrive with film historian interviews, visual essays and trailers. The second title also has a select-scene movie expert commentary track. The box set includes an 80-page booklet on the titles and is a \u201cLimited Edition\u201d of 4000. You can read about the entire set by clicking on this review link.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Malpertuis<\/em> (1971) is a Belgian\/French\/West German production about a sailor who returns home to find the town in a strange state. He ends up on the estate of his wealthy uncle, who has gathered the family together for a very strange will reading. This arthouse horror picture is very surreal but has built a sizable following over the years. It is now being released on Blu-ray for the first time in the world. You\u2019ll get a director-approved 4K image restoration, a commentary with the filmmaker and the assistant director, a new interview with the director, a 2005 documentary on the making of the feature, a featurette on the casting of Orson Welles, with outtakes of the performer, a special on co-star Susan Hampshire, an archival interview with the director and co-star Michel Bouquet, an archival talk with author Jean Ray aka John Flanders (who wrote the book the movie is based on). The director also revisits the locations from the film and presents a short he made from the previous decade. Additionally, the Cannes version of the picture, which is 25 minutes shorter, is presented as well. This release also contains an 80-page booklet with essays on the picture and comes in a rigid box. 88 Films is putting out a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo (as\nwell as a standalone Blu-ray) of the Italian Nazisploitation film SS\nExperiment Love Camp<\/em> (1976). It\u2019s a jarring movie that, as the press\nrelease states, \u201c\u2026continues to disgust audiences\u2026 50 years after its initial\nrelease.\u201d The specs include a new 4K restoration of the original camera\nnegative, an Italian film expert commentary, a discussion with the director, an\ninterview with a movie historian, as well as the editor and cinematographer.\nAdditionally, the Italian opening and closing credits, as well as a trailer is\nfeatured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you don\u2019t have it already, Capelight Pictures is making\nthe amusing comedy Hot Tub Time Machine<\/em> (2010) available once again on\nBlu-ray or as a Blu-ray and DVD Mediabook. Strangely enough, this appears to be\nolder discs getting a redo without a 4K upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cauldron Films is presenting a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray\n\u201cStandard Edition\u201d of the Spanish biker revenge film Mad Foxes<\/em> (1981).\nThe uncut edition of the film has been given a 4K restoration from the original\ncamera negative and is presented in Dolby Vision, along with a film historian\ncommentary, cast and crew interviews, and a video essay on the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hollywood Rocks!<\/em> (2008) is a documentary about the\nLos Angeles 1980s hair metal music scene that is arriving on Blu-ray from\nCleopatra. It features interviews with musicians Kevin Dubrow, Jack Russell,\nJani Lane, Tracii Guns, Stephen Pearcy, Steven Adler and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Criterion is giving one of their popular catalog titles a\nreissue. The memorable French horror picture Eyes Without a Face<\/em> (1960)\nis arriving in a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo. It involves a doctor kidnapping\nwomen to perform radical surgery and give his disfigured daughter a new visage.\nThe movie has been given a 4K restoration and is presented in Dolby Vision.\nExtras include Blood of the Beasts<\/em> (1949), the director\u2019s documentary\nabout the slaughterhouses of Paris. There are also archival interviews with the\nfilmmaker and a cast member, excerpts from a 1985 documentary on the\nscreenwriters, as well as trailers. A booklet with an essay on the movie is\nalso listed as a bonus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

School in the Crosshairs<\/em> (1981) is a Japanese title\narriving on Blu-ray from Cult Epics. It involves a high school student with\npsychic powers. When another kid arrives in town with similar abilities, the\ntwo battle over a seat in the student government. The distributor is presenting\na 2K image restoration, a film critic commentary, a visual essay on the movie,\na film poster gallery, and trailers. There is also a reversible sleeve with\noriginal Japanese poster art and a 24-page booklet with notes on the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deaf Crocodile Films is delivering several wild Eastern\nEuropean titles on Blu-ray.  The Assassin of the Tsar<\/em> (1991) is a\nRussian effort with Malcolm McDowell about an institutionalized man who thinks\nhe\u2019s the assassin of Tsar Nicolas II. His therapist takes him on a trip into\nhis mind to make him relive events from 1918 and realize he\u2019s not a killer. The\nmovie received a new restoration from the original 35mm elements and comes with\na film historian commentary, a video essay, and interviews with McDowell and\nthe cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bubble Bath<\/em> (1980) is an animated Hungarian musical\nthat has been newly restored for Blu-ray. It arrives with a film expert\ncommentary, an essay with a professor, interviews with the editor and the\ndirector, five rare short films by the moviemaker and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Treasures of Soviet Animation: Volume 1<\/em> contains\nthree important animated titles from the USSR. You\u2019ll get The Return<\/em>\n(1980), The Mystery of the Third Planet<\/em> (1981) and The Pass<\/em>\n(1988), all newly restored in 4K for this release. The disc contains two video\nessays with film historians, in addition to a movie expert  commentary\ntrack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven\u2019t seen it, Visitors from the Arkana Galaxy<\/em>\n(1981) is a wild and crazy science-fiction movie made in Dubrovnik, Croatia.\nThis is a lovely seaside resort town in this part of the world, and the story\nfollows a cartoonist who meets aliens and befriends them. One of the youngsters\nfrom another planet brings along a toy figure that grows into a monster during\nthe climax of the picture. This title was released back in 2023 but is now\ngetting a reissue on Blu-ray. The movie was newly scanned and restored for this\nedition, comes with a film expert commentary track, a film historian video\nessay, as well as five animated shorts from the director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film noir The Judge<\/em> (1949) is being put out on\nBlu-ray from Film Masters. It involves a crooked lawyer who blackmails a client\ninto trying to murder his wife. According to the box synopsis, this effort\npushed the boundaries of the Film Code with some very dark plot elements. It\nstars Milburn Stone and Katherine DeMille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s a very busy week for Kino-Lorber. First up is a Blu-ray\nof the drama Angry Harvest<\/em> (1985) an effort from Agnieszka Holland (The\nSecret Garden, Green Border<\/em>) about a separated Jewish family attempting to\navoid capture during the Nazi occupation. A German farmer takes the wife in,\nbut he is hesitant to reunite the woman with her husband when he appears in the\narea still alive. It comes with a film historian commentary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Denzel Washington\/Angelina Jolie thriller The Bone\nCollector<\/em> (1999) will be available in a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray set or as a\nstandalone Blu-ray. It\u2019s about a policewoman and quadriplegic criminologist\ntrying to track down a serial killer. The original camera negative has been\ngiven a 4K master and is being presented in Dolby Vision. The set includes two\nnew film historian commentaries, an archival commentary with director Phillip\nNoyce (Dead Calm, Patriot Games, Rabbit-Proof Fence, Salt<\/em>), a production\nfeaturette and a trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not to be confused with the Eddie Murphy comedy, the Alain\nDelon French crime drama Boomerang <\/em>(1976) is arriving on Blu-ray. It\u2019s\nabout a dad trying to get his drug-addicted son off the hook for the murder of\na policeman. His job becomes considerably harder when his criminal past comes\nto light. The image on this Blu-ray comes from a 4K restoration. It also comes\nwith a film historian commentary and a trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of French movies, Cop or Hood<\/em> (1979) is a\nFrench action picture with Jean-Paul Belmondo as a police commissioner hunting\ndown the killers of one of his inspectors. When he learns another corrupt law\nenforcement department is responsible, he goes on the offensive, resulting in\nsome impressive stunts. This Blu-ray also comes with a movie historian\ncommentary and trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Death Packs a Suitcase<\/em> (1972) is a Jess Franco\nchiller arriving on Blu-ray from the distributor. It follows a slasher in\nLondon whose kink is to pack up a suitcase of his victim before murdering them.\nIt arrives with a film expert commentary.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the Kino Cult line is presenting the notorious Ilsa:\nShe Wolf of the SS<\/em> (1975) in a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray package. This is a\nNazispoitation title about the activities of a female Nazi commandant who\nspends a lot of time torturing people while being undressed. For those\ninterested, the release contains a 4K restoration of the film in Dolby Vision,\nan archival commentary with the star, the director, and the producer, as well\nas a new movie historian commentary. There is also an interview with the director,\nand promo materials.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rob Zombie\u2019s effective 70s horror homage The Devil\u2019s\nRejects<\/em> (2005) is reappearing as a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Amazon exclusive\nSteelbook courtesy of Lionsgate. The story of this sequel follows the\npsychopaths from House of 1000 Corpses as they continue their killing spree on\nthe road and try to evade police. The set contains an upgraded picture and most\nof the bonuses available on previous editions, including multiple commentary\ntracks, deleted scene, bloopers, promo materials, as well as a 144-minute documentary\non the production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lionsgate Limited is also making a few titles available as\nexclusives through their website. Hider in the House<\/em> (1989) is a Vestron\nVideo title with Gary Busey as a maniac who hides in the walls of a suburban\nhome and terrorizes the residents (played by Mimi Rogers and Michael McKeon).\nThis is a bonkers and over-the-top horror movie that is very amusing for genre\nfans in the right frame of mind. This Blu-ray contains a director commentary,\nfeaturettes on the screenplay, the music, and the production itself. A still\ngallery and a theatrical trailer are also included in this release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacob\u2019s Ladder<\/em> (1990) is receiving the 4K Ultra HD\nand Blu-ray Steelbook treatment. Tim Robbins stars as a Viet Nam war vet\nsuffering from trauma, who begins to experience disturbing visions. He attempts\nto figure out exactly what is going on as the situation worsens. This picture\nincludes a 4K presentation of the movie in Dolby Vision. It also boasts a\nspecial extra called \u201cThe Rungs of Jacob\u2019s  Ladder,\u201d commentary with\ndirector Adrain Lyne (Flashdance, Fatal Attraction, Indecent Proposal<\/em>),\na commentary with Mike White of \u201cThe Projection Booth\u201d, making-of featurettes,\nan interview with the screenwriter, a look at the locations, a special on war\ntrauma in connection with this title, deleted scenes and a trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Eli Roth thriller Knock Knock<\/em> (2015) with Keanu\nReeves, Ana de Armas and Lorenza Izzo is getting an anniversary 4K Ultra HD and\nBlu-ray \u201cCollector\u2019s Edition\u201d from Lionsgate Limited. It\u2019s about a husband who\nlets two young women into his house, resulting in a deadly game of cat and mouse.\nThe film is presented in 4K with Dolby Vision and comes with a new look back at\nthe movie, a featurette with Eli Roth and a trailer, along with legacy extras\nlike a director\/cast and crew commentary, a making-of, deleted scenes, and a\nstills gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re an enthusiast of Italian horror movies, you can\npick up a Blu-ray of Body Puzzle <\/em>(1992) from RaroVideo U.S.. It\u2019s a\nserial killer film from Lamberto Bava (Demons, Demons 2<\/em>) about a madman\nwho leaves severed body parts in the home of his next target. This title\narrives with a film historian commentary and trailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Severin is delivering a 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo of the\nentertaining Amicus anthology Asylum <\/em>(1972). The plot follows a new\npsychiatrist in a psychiatric institute hearing the stories of four inmates.\nFor this release, the film was scanned in 4K from the original camera negative\nand features more than two hours of special features that include an all-new\ninterview with co-star Robert Powell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baskin<\/em> (2015) is also appearing in a 4K Ultra HD and\nBlu-ray pack, as well as standalone Blu-ray. This is a Turkish chiller about a\npolice squad who are lured into a hellish nightscape. The 3-plus hours of\nbonuses include a retrospective piece, a behind-the-scenes documentary,\nEvrenol’s original short film and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ferat Vampire<\/em> (1982) is another wild and crazy effort\nfrom Europe. It\u2019s a Czech horror picture about a foreign car manufacturer who\ncreates a rally car that drives incredibly fast. The only problem is that it\nruns on human blood and has vampiric tendencies. That\u2019s the price you pay to be\nin the winner\u2019s circle. If memory serves, it\u2019s a unique and amusing genre\npicture.  For its Blu-ray release, the picture has been restored by\nN\u00e1rodn\u00ed Filmov\u00fd Archiv and Severin Films. It comes with multiple commentary\ntracks, as well as interviews with cast and crew. In all, it has over five\nhours of new and archival extras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Universal Studios is delivering a 4K Ultra HD only and a\nBlu-ray only edition of Alfred Hitchcock: The Ultimate Collection<\/em>, which\ncontains the classics Saboteur<\/em> (1942), Shadow of a Doubt<\/em> (1943), Rope<\/em>\n(1948), Rear Window<\/em> (1954), The Trouble With Harry<\/em> (1955), The\nMan Who Knew Too Much <\/em>(1956), Vertigo <\/em>(1958), North by Northwest<\/em>\n(1959), Psycho<\/em> (1960), The Birds<\/em> (1963), Marnie<\/em> (1964), Torn\nCurtain<\/em> (1966), Topaz<\/em> (1969), Frenzy<\/em> (1972) and Family\nPlot<\/em> (1976). This is a repackaging of previous Hitchcock releases, but all\nare solid transfers that come with plenty of great extras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back to the Future: The Ultimate Trilogy 40th<\/sup>\nAnniversary<\/em> 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray combo is arriving this week, as well as\nan Amazon exclusive Steelbook version of the set. It includes the original Back\nto the Future<\/em> (1985), Back to the Future Part II<\/em> (1989) and Back\nto the Future Part III<\/em> (1990). Apparently, it comes with nine hours of\narchival special features from earlier editions, as well as the following\nall-new bonuses\u2026 a reflection on the movie with co-writer and producer Bob\nGale, a trip through the film\u2019s iconic locations with Gale and co-star Donald\nFullilove, more, untold stories from cast and crew about the production, a\npanel from a screening with Gale, cinematographer Dean Cundy and stunt double\nCharlie Croughwell, and a featurette on the Gibson guitar featured in the\nmovie. And if you don\u2019t want the whole box set, all the titles will be\navailable separately too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the Errol Flynn biopic The Last of Robin Hood<\/em>\n(2013) will also be arriving on Blu-ray. This drama stars Kevin Kline, Susan\nSarandon and Dakota Fanning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s also a busy edition for the Warner Archive Collection.\nThey are putting out the Bette Davis Collection<\/em> Blu-ray set that\ncontains Jezebel <\/em>(1938), Dark Victory<\/em> (1939), The Private\nLives of Elizabeth and Essex<\/em> (1939) and The Letter<\/em> (1940). It\u2019s a\ngreat way to pick up several notable titles with the performer in one set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Curse of Frankenstein <\/em>(1957) is one of the best\nHammer horror pictures, and it\u2019s getting a 4K Ultra HD only release, as well as\na Blu-ray edition for those who don\u2019t have a 4K setup. The 4K Ultra HD contains\ntwo 4K discs with three restored cuts of the film presented in HDR. It comes\nwith two new film historian commentaries and two archival tracks with movie\nexperts. These are presented on two 4K discs, while an accompanying Blu-ray\ncontains extras like featurettes on Hammer, the make-up effects in the movie, a\nlook at the Mary Shelley novel, a look at the restoration, tons of archival\nfeaturettes and interview with cast and crew, alternative versions of the\neyeball sequence, promo materials, and much, much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back on Blu-ray, the Hollywood Legends of Horror\nCollection<\/em> set features Doctor X<\/em> (1932), The Mask of Fu Manchu <\/em>(1932),\nMad Love<\/em> (1935), The Devil Doll<\/em> (1936), The Return of Doctor X<\/em>\n(1939), Mark of the Vampire<\/em> (1935) and The Return of Doctor X<\/em>\n(1939).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Joan Crawford Collection<\/em> provides Blu-rays of Grand\nHotel<\/em> (1932), The Women<\/em> (1939), Possessed <\/em>(1947) and The\nDamned Don\u2019t Cry<\/em> (1950).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the Judy Garland Collection<\/em> features\nsome of this performer\u2019s most notable titles on Blu-ray, including Strike Up\nthe Band<\/em> (1940), Girl Crazy<\/em> (1943), Meet Me in St. Louis<\/em>\n(1944), In the Good Old Summertime<\/em> (1949), Summer Stock<\/em> (1950)\nand A Star is Born<\/em> (1954)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
